Each dish is prepared a la minute by the professional team. The menu varies weekly and seasonally according to the best produce fresh from our own gardens and other local suppliers personally selected by the executive chef, our very own "Country Gourmet," Randhir Singh. Sunday Morning Great Wall Yoga Spring to Fall at the Brickyard Spa

Slow Food Saturday First Saturday in September

The Schoolhouse team supports the Slow Food movement and we co-host the annual Slow Food Saturday festival at Mutianyu Great Wall. Four villages and the local businesses come together to offer a day of fresh air and local foods to visitors from around the world. Performances, demonstrations, tastings, sales of newly harvested fruits and vegetables, biking, and hiking. Moon Festival - Authentic Mid-Autumn Feast Every Fall at Xiaolumian

Every year people the world over mark harvest time. In Yingbeigou we are close to nature and, along with our village neighbors, we celebrate the Moon Festival with a feast at Xiaolumian. Red lanterns, moon viewing, crisp fall evening, honest food, live folk music. One year it rained and we all crowded into our little peasant's hut and somehow the food and company were even better. Slow Food Saturday All Around Mutianyu

The Slow Food movement is all about preserving cultural cuisine, and in doing so preserving local foods, farming and ways of life. Slow Food is the antithesis to large-scale commercial food production and today's fast-food culture. Slow Food brings back the joy in eating, and encourages us to connect over food. That is what we plan to do all day Saturday, as we tour the Great Wall International Cultural Villages of Mutianyu, Beigou, Xinying and Tianxianyu and taste a variety of dishes made from the freshest local ingredients - check event website for details.

Third Annual Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Carving Contest at The Schoolhouse

From 14:00-16:00 -- Select a pumpkin and decorate or carve it (while quantities last). The creations will be displayed and lit up as jack-o-lanterns for our Saturday evening fine dining and judged by our team (their decisions being final).

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Children aged up to 12, Teenagers up to 17, and Adults. The winning Child will receive a certificate for a free Birthday Party at The Schoolhouse for up to 12 kids with hamburger and fries lunch and birthday cake (adult supervision required). The winning Teenager will receive a certificate for a free Sleep Over in a Schoolhouse Home with a night's stay for up to 8 people, popcorn & sodas on us, and breakfast the next morning (adult supervision required). The winning Adult will receive a certificate for a Getaway Weekend at the Brickyard Inn for two people including Saturday Dinner at The Schoolhouse.

Note: The Schoolhouse will keep the pumpkins for display. Only registered entrants will be eligible for prizes and registration means The Schoolhouse may announce winners' names and show their creations in our marketing materials. Our staff will be dressed for the occasion – why not join the fun?

Any guest who wears a Halloween costume while dining from 11:00-18:00 will receive a free dessert from the a la carte menu. One per guest.

Any adult guest who wears a Halloween costume while enjoying our Saturday Fine Dining 18:00-21:00 will receive a free bottle of house red wine or an equivalent credit toward another wine selection to be served with dinner. One per guest.
